Dog mess

Dog mess is unpleasant and a health hazard. By law, owners must clean up after their dog if it fouls in a public place.

Dog mess on streets and grass verges will be cleaned as part of the street cleaning schedule.

Action may be taken if it is a significant problem, such as outside a school, or on a regular basis.

Fine

We can issue fines of £80 to anyone seen not clearing up after their dog.

If you are prosecuted in court, you could get a maximum fine of £1,000.

In parks

Dog mess can be wrapped in a plastic bag and put into ordinary litter bins or taken home for disposal with household rubbish.
