Safer communities

Safer communities team

The safer communities team responds to complaints of crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB) and works in conjunction with the police and other key partners to resolve them.

Every case that is reported to the safer communities team is reviewed and will be referred to appropriate services or progressed for investigation, and the team will consider all appropriate intervention and enforcement options.

Whilst the safer communities team’s statutory duty is to Ealing Council tenants, the team will support anyone who lives, works in, or visits Ealing in resolving any community safety concerns they may have.

What is anti-social behaviour?

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) is behaviour that causes (or is likely to cause) harassment, alarm, or distress to any persons, not of the same household.

The safer communities team works following the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act (2014).

The safer communities team covers a wide range of unacceptable activities that cause harm to an individual, their community, or their environment. Including:

  • drug-related nuisance (drug dealing,drug use,paraphernalia)
  • exploitation
  • hate crime and harassment
  • verbal abuse, assaults, threats to kill
  • cuckooing
  • neighbour disputes
  • nuisance vehicles
  • begging, rough sleepers
  • damage to property, squatting
  • people congregating
  • brothels
  • unauthorised encampments
  • street drinking
  • dangerous dogs

Noise and nuisance can also be a form of anti-social behaviour, and all reports of noise and nuisance are investigated by the noise and nuisance team, who are within the safer communities team.

Our partnerships

The safer communities team works closely with partners from across the council, outside agencies, and voluntary services, as well as other London boroughs to deliver the best possible outcomes for Ealing residents experiencing ASB.

Our key partners include teams within the council, the Metropolitan Police, the NHS, housing providers, and agencies in the borough that provide intervention and support to residents. The team also co-ordinates Ealing’s community MARAC (multi ageny risk assessment conference).

Contacting us

In certain cases, there are actions you will need to take before contacting our team.

If you are a housing association or private tenant, you should first report the anti-social behaviour you are experiencing to your landlord before contacting us.
