Light nuisance

If you experience a light nuisance and cannot resolve the matter informally, you can contact the council for assistance.

Making a Complaint

An officer from the council will arrange an appointment to visit you in the evening (when it is dark) to assess the light nuisance from a room in your home.

The officer will:

• evaluate the severity of the light nuisance from within your property
• if the light is considered a statutory nuisance, the council can serve a legal notice to the person responsible
• the legal notice will require the responsible party to take steps to reduce or remove the nuisance
