The Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon

The Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon is the official British Athletics three-mile road championships for young athletes aged between 11 and 17. It takes place on the same day as the main London Marathon. The 2018 event will take place on Sunday 22 April 2018 and the junior runners run the last 5km of the course, finishing minutes ahead of the elite adult marathon runners.  

If you live or go to school in the borough and you’re a talented runner then you could be eligible to take part.

Age categories are as follows:

  • Boys and girls under 13
    Must be at least 11 years old on 22 April 2018
    Born between 1 September 2004 and 22 April 2007
  • Boys and girls under 15
    Born between 1 September 2002 and 31 August 2004
  • Boys and girls under 17
    Must be aged under 18 on 22 April 2018
    Born between 23 April 2001 and 31 August 2002

Trial details

Register to complete a parkrun at http://www.parkrun.org.uk/ no later than the Friday before you want to run at 6pm.

Complete a 5K parkrun event at Northala Fields on Saturday 20 January 2018 or if you are unable to attend on this date then you must attend on Saturday 10 March 2018. (We advise parents/carers to remain on site during the race and please do not forget to bring your barcode with you)

Email Jo Valks at valksj@ealing.gov.uk to register your interest to be considered for selection for the Ealing Team, no later than Sunday 5 February 2017. Late entries will not be accepted. Please include the following information in your email: name of runner, date of birth, address, postcode, school and telephone number.

The sports development team will select the six fastest male and six female athletes in each category to represent Ealing on Sunday 22 April 2018. We will contact qualifying athletes by email before Monday 19 March 2018.

*Please note: The Northala Fields Park Run takes place on a Saturday at 9am. We would like as many people as possible to take part on the 20 January. The 10 March run is only open to those unable to attend on the first date. Your time from the first of these two dates will be used for selection.
