Consultation on the creation of new regional park

Looking after public money

We are proud of we how look after public money and spend on the services we know are needed and wanted most by Ealing residents.

Ealing Council manages Brent Valley and Perivale Golf Courses.

The courses are subsidised by the council by approximately £80k per annum.

The cabinet paper requested a budget of £75,000 over the next 2 years for the new regional park. Options for the site are being considered, subject to the ongoing public consultation. There are currently no finalised plans.

As our budgets reduce because of less money from central government, more than ever we have a duty to ensure public money is spent sensibly and is in the best interests of as many people as possible.

We regularly review our public pay and play golf courses in the context of use by residents, financial viability, the attractiveness of the facilities, identifying whether they are they fit for purpose and understanding if golf is still the best use of a recreational green space.

In summary

We are proposing to close Perivale Golf Course so that we can change how the land is used, which would mean more people can enjoy it.

We also think the land and nearby residents should benefit from it being part of an exciting new regional park in Ealing.

We recognise that Perivale Golf Course has a higher percentage of older and less mobile customers as it is a 9-hole flat course with a clubhouse, but we think that people who currently play golf at Perivale Golf Course have easy access to other golf courses that are nearby.

We also think that the clubhouse facilities could be opened up for wider use by more people. The existing café which is currently used by non-golf customers could also be improved.
