Consultation on the creation of new regional park

Travelling to the new regional park – will I live near it and will I be able to get to it easily?

There is not yet a fixed or agreed map of exactly which areas will fall into a new regional park. We want to talk with residents and other stakeholders about those details next year. One possible option the council is considering is for the new regional park to be based around the River Brent.

20-minute neighbourhoods

Thriving local neighbourhoods, with employment opportunities, everyday services and amenities within walking or cycling distance of our homes, usually a 20-minute round-trip.

A regional park at the heart of Ealing with new east to west and north to south active travel routes will be within a 20-minute round trip for people living in and around Greenford, Hanwell, and Southall town centres.

Residents in the following wards would all benefit from being within 20 minutes walking distance of the new park:

  • Northolt Mandeville
  • North Greenford
  • Central Greenford
  • Greenford Broadway
  • Perivale
  • Hanger Hill
  • Pitshanger
  • Ealing Broadway
  • North Hanwell
  • Hanwell Broadway
  • Walpole
  • Northfield
  • Norwood Green
  • Dormers Wells
  • Southall Broadway
  • Lady Margaret

If you don’t know which ward you live in, you can find out using your address

Active travel

Active travel means getting about in a way that makes you physically active, such as walking, cycling, running or scooting. Encouraging more active travel has become an important priority for Ealing Council as it brings lots of benefits – improved public health and air quality, increased road safety, better street life and reduced carbon emissions. That is why the council is investing £10m into active travel in the borough.

A new regional park will connect existing green spaces making it easier for people to leave their cars at home and use physically active ways - like walking, wheeling (using a wheelchair or mobility aid), cycling, or scootering - to get to lots of different neighbourhoods, helping people to meet up more easily and giving everyone greater access to a wider range of amenities.

A new regional park for Ealing will be amazing and our ambition is big. Imagine a new cultural area in the heart of beautiful open space, an outdoor theatre, performance spaces, public art exhibitions, walking trails, more wildlife and rewilding to bring back much needed and at-risk animals and plants. Fresh, clean air and safe cycle and scooter routes.

Will any buildings be demolished to create a new regional park?

The boundary of the regional park has not yet been decided and therefore we do not know whether any existing buildings will be affected.
