Consultation on the creation of new regional park

Why create a new regional park?

A new regional park offers the perfect opportunity to develop a greener, more connected Ealing that is equipped to tackle the climate emergency and would provide a range of other benefits including:

  • making Ealing a more vibrant, green, and attractive place to live and visit
  • supporting nature recovery in Ealing by providing more space for nature rich habitats and potential new species reintroductions
  • increasing carbon storage capacity, contributing to the council’s carbon reduction targets
  • providing more opportunities for Ealing residents to connect with nature
  • providing much needed flood resilience
  • improving mental health and residents’ wellbeing
  • encouraging walking, cycling and other fully accessible physical activities
  • improving air quality
  • increasing community connections amongst residents, reducing loneliness

Our big ambition for a new regional park

We believe Ealing’s regional park will be as transformative for west London as the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park has been for east London.

The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is home to world class music, cultural and national and international sporting events. There are hundreds of acres of parklands with guided tours and activity trails and opportunities to get involved in many types of sports.

Restaurants, cafes and bars are throughout the park. 6 million people visit The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park every year with 95% of visitors returning more than once.

We believe Ealing residents deserve to have an incredible park on their doorsteps with the potential to have similar positive effect on the borough and west London as The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park had on east London.

Our vision for a new regional park in Ealing

More than a day out - the Ealing Regional Park will become a new destination for lovers of nature, culture and play. A space to restore your health, support the local economy and have fun. The park will act as a new green lung for London; strengthening our climate resilience whilst improving air quality for future generations.
