Gunnersbury Park and Museum

Gunnersbury Park and Museum includes:

  • A 72-hectare heritage park situated between Hounslow and Ealing
  • A local history museum
  • Museum service for Ealing and Hounslow boroughs
  • 22 Grade II listed buildings
  • A sports hub
  • Community facilities 
  • Natural biodiversity.

Gunnersbury estate (2026) Community Interest Company was established to manage Gunnersbury, following £20million of capital investment from National Heritage Lottery Fund, Historic England, Ealing and Hounslow councils. The redevelopment of Gunnersbury finished in 2018, setting up a cultural asset of national significance. Gunnersbury has 25-year contracts with both councils, for the management and care of museum collections and the delivery of public events. 

The Arts Council has awarded Gunnersbury the status of National Portfolio Organisation, from April 2023 onwards. Becoming the first such organisation in Ealing and the second in West London.

Grade II listed

Gunnersbury is Grade II listed and entry to the museum is free. 

The Museum holds a wide-ranging collection of around 50,000 museum and archive objects. These show the heritage and culture of Ealing and Hounslow’s past and present populations. 

These include:

  • Archaeological artefacts on long term loan from the British Museum
  • Oral histories relating to Ajit Rai (founding member of the Indian Workers Association) 
  • Oral histories of Eric Huntley (Bogle L'Ouverture publishing company). 

The museum also houses the internationally significant Roy Gough Ealing Studios photography collection. Displaying the stars of British cinema, including Roger Moore, Audrey Hepburn, Edric Esclus Connor and Alec Guinness.

The museum curates important one-off exhibitions, such as the 2022 'Ealing Rises Up' exhibition about Black and Asian political activism in 20th century Ealing.
