Training days
Schools have 198 days total and must choose 5 days as training days for teachers, decided by headteachers with staff input.
Occasional days
Schools can also set 3 occasional holidays for students and staff, in consultation with their governing body. These should consider religious festivals besides Christmas and Easter and must come from the 198 days. If not needed for festivals, it is suggested to use them at the end of summer term 2027.
The total number of working days for teachers is 195 and for pupils it is 190.
