This consultation will be open until 22 December 2025
The consultation
Every year admissions authorities are required to determine their admissions arrangements and consult on any proposed changes. They are also required to consult even where there are no changes, and it has been 7 years since their last consultation. They are required to publish a draft of the revised policies and consult on any proposed changes with residents, other admission authorities and any other persons with an interest in the arrangements.
Community schools
Ealing council is consulting on a proposed change to the admissions arrangements for community schools for entry in September 2027 with the introduction of a staff child criterion. This proposal follows strong support from headteachers across the borough, who have identified this measure as a key step in improving staff recruitment and retention.
Under the proposed criterion, priority would be given to children of staff who:
- Have been employed at the school for a minimum of two years at the time of application
- Are employed in a post where there is a demonstrable skill shortage
This criterion would be placed below looked after and previously looked after children and siblings, but above distance only based admissions. It reflects practices already adopted by all of our neighbouring boroughs and aims to ensure Ealing schools remain competitive and supportive workplaces for high-quality staff.

Ealing council is consulting on behalf of the following own admissions authority schools who are proposing changes to their 2027-28 admissions arrangements.

- Within each faith criteria children will be prioritised according to the Deanery they reside in as follows:
- Ealing Deanery
- Brent & Harrow Deanery
- Hillingdon Deanery
- Outside the above categories
The wording of the world faith criteria has been updated to clarify that it applies only to children who are practising members of a major world faith and an additional note has been included to confirm that commitment at a previous Church can be taken into account if a family has recently moved.
