Paying your council tax by direct debit is easy and safe.
The money is taken from your bank automatically, so you do not have to remember to pay it. This means you will not get any late fees.
Banks and building societies offer a direct debit guarantee.
This means:
- if the amount, date, or how often you pay changes, we will tell you at least 10 working days before the money is taken
- if you ask us to take a payment, they will tell you how much and when
- if a mistake happens and too much money is taken, you can get all your money back from your bank or building society
- you can stop your direct debit anytime by telling your bank or building society
To set up a direct debit you will need:
- your council tax account
- bank account details
