LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge

Ealing Council has signed up to the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge scheme to make sure LGBTQ+ residents are able to enjoy their homes without fear of discrimination.

This pledge shows the council’s commitment to building inclusive communities where differences are embraced.

The scheme was developed in 2019 in response to a study by the University of Surrey, which looked at the experiences of LGBTQ+ social housing residents.

It encourages housing providers to engage with LGBTQ+ residents and improve housing policies to promote inclusivity.

By signing up, the council has committed to:

  • ensuring LGBTQ+ residents have a say at executive and strategic levels
  • increasing LGBTQ+ visibility in the housing service
  • providing staff training that will improve understanding of LGBTQ+ lives

The council is working towards Pioneer accreditation and encourages residents, especially  LGBTQ+ individuals, to share their experiences and get involved.
