There are 2 types of registers:
- the electoral register
- the open register
The electoral register
The electoral register lists the names and addresses of everyone who is registered to vote in public elections.
It is also used for:
- finding and stopping crime and fraud
- calling people for jury service
- checking credit applications
The register is available to view by appointment only at:
- Southall Library (Dominion Centre and Library), 112 The Green, Southall, Middlesex, UB2 4BQ (020 8825 6540)
The register is available to view by appointment between 10am and 4pm at:
- Greenford Hall, Ruislip Road, Greenford, UB6 9QN (020 8825 7777)
You can look at the register for around 15 to 20 minutes, but a staff member must be with you while you do it. You can only see it if a member of staff is available to help.
The open register
The open register is a list of people’s names, but it is not used for voting in elections or checking credit applications. Businesses and charities use it to check names and addresses, and anyone can buy this copy of the register.
Your name and address will be included in the open register unless you ask for them to be removed. Opting out does not affect your right to vote.
If you would like a list of all the organisations and people who are given a copy of the electoral register, email elections@ealing.gov.uk
