Gambling policy consultation

This consultation starts on Monday 2 February and ends on Sunday 22 March.

Under the Gambling Act 2005, Ealing Council and the Gambling Commission are responsible for licensing gambling, gaming, and betting premises in the borough. The law says we must regularly check and update our Statement of Gambling Policy to make sure it follows current rules.

Review of the policy statement

The last full review of the policy was in 2023, so it now needs updating.

Reviewing the policy helps us keep the licensing framework up to date. It also helps make sure that gambling in our borough is safe and well‑regulated.

Most of the policy is the same as the 2023 version. However, we have made some small changes and improved the layout to make it easier to read and understand.

Consultation

As part of the review, we are asking for feedback from many people, including residents, local businesses, responsible authorities, and community groups. We would like to hear your views on the draft Statement of Gambling Policy and the updated Local Area Profile (LAP). The LAP explains local risks and issues that help guide safe and fair gambling regulation.

If you want to comment on the draft Policy and LAP, use our online consultation portal: GoVocal

The consultation runs from Monday 2 February to Sunday 22 March.

All feedback will be reviewed and will help shape any future changes to the Statement of Gambling Policy and the LAP.

Implementation

The updated policy will be presented at a full council meeting before 1 June 2026.

After it is approved, we will publish it on our website. Printed copies will also be available in public libraries in the borough and at Ealing Council’s offices at Perceval House.
