Community-led regeneration charter

The council is committed to creating a community-led regeneration charter in collaboration with residents, officers, developers and other partners that will set out how the council and its partner will meaningfully engage with residents on regeneration led projects.

Workshop

A workshop has been organised which will take place on Wednesday 12 November from 6pm to 7:30pm in the Liz Cantell room on the ground floor of Perceval House. Please book your place by signing up here

Have your say

We understand that not everyone will be able to attend the workshop so we also have a survey where you can give feedback on the 3 main sections we have outlined in the charter

Why do we need a community-led regeneration charter?

With significant housing targets now directed on councils by the government and the Mayor of London, all local boroughs can expect an increase in regeneration and development in the coming years. In the borough we have been preparing for this, particularly with our emerging Local Plan due to be published next year. Our local residents, workers and communities are a critical voice to shape and inform good regeneration. We need to work with you to better understand how good engagement should be carried out between all stakeholders involved in regeneration projects, and how compromises must be reached to unlock the best possible solutions.

What is the community-led regeneration charter?

This is why we have organised a workshop and need to gather input on what is needed. We have ideas already such as the charter:

  • will be a short document with a list of commitments and a toolkit on how the council and our partners need to engage meaningfully with our communities
  • will have clear roles and responsibilities
  • will signpost to existing regeneration strategies
  • should include case studies of best practice
