What you can expect from us

Dog fouling on streets

We will clar within 24 hours, when reported between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Emergency highway clearance

If reported between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, we will treat as an emergency and will aim to clear within 3 hours. Examples include: Dangerous fly tipping sites, debris after an accident, dead animals, oil spillages and fridge/freezers.

Envirocrime prevention

  • Collection of household chemicals: once requested, Corporation of London provide this service on our behalf and operate to the following timescales:
    • emergency - 24 hrs
    • urgent - 3 days
    • regular - 10 days
  • Dogs:
    • report a lost dog: we will take the details of the lost dog and will inform council area officers working around the borough who will monitor
      • if the dog is found we will report this to our stray dogs contractor
    • report a stray dog: our contractor will investigate within 4 hours of receipt of report
      • if the dog is found it will be collected and taken to a holding kennel
  • Fly posting - removal: we will remove flyposting within six working days
  • Free disposal of your unwanted vehicles: please contact a recovery company to make arrangements to surrender your vehicle. The council currently work with A1 Spares and Bud Rescue and Recovery
  • Graffiti removal from all property except railway property: we will clear graffiti within six working days.
  • Hazardous waste on public highway: if you report hazardous waste on a public highway by 5pm, we will inspect hazardous waste within 1 working day. We will then notify The Corporation of London who normally arranges removal of hazardous waste on Ealing Council's behalf within the following time periods depending on the type of material:
    • emergency - 24 hrs
    • urgent - 3 days
    • regular - 10 days
  • Highway encroachment: we will carry out an initial inspection within 5 working days
  • Overhanging private trees or bushes over highways: we will carry out an inspection within 5 working days
  • Report an abandoned vehicle on the highway: a site visit will be carried out within 5 working day
  • Reporting an illegal or unlit skip: we will carry out an initial inspection and will take enforcement action if appropriate
  • Skip permits (only authorised skip companies can apply for a permit): upon receipt of the company’s application we will process the request within 3 days. Applications to join the authorized skip company list will be processed within 10 working days
  • Traveller sites - highways: we will visit the site by the end of the next working day

Fly tipping – public highways

If you report before 5pm we will aim to clear all fly tips by the end of the next working day.

Refuse and recycling

  • Additional wheelie bin request: we will deliver within 10 working days
  • Clear sacks - additional sacks (mixed recycling): We will deliver within 10 working days
  • Commercial refuse:
    • inspector to contact: we will deliver within 5 working days
    • missed collection: we will pick up missed collections on the same day if reported by 1pm if reported after this they will be collected the next working day
    • new contract: we will action this within 5 working days
    • prepaid sacks or stickers order: we will raise an invoice within 2 working days, and we will deliver within 2 days of receipt of payment
    • repair/replace commercial bin: we will action within 5 working days
  • Domestic refuse:
    • communal bin request: we will visit the site within 10 working days to inspect for suitability
    • missed collection: we will pick up missed collections on the same day if reported by 1pm if reported after this they will be collected the next working day
    • repair or replace communal bins: we will repair or assess if bin(s) need replacing within 10 working days
    • special collection over 8 items - we arrange a quotation within 5 working days
    • special collection under 8 items - we will collect the items within 5 working days from receipt of payment, or an appointment can be arranged on a first-come, first-served basis
    • spillage not removed:  if you report, we will rectify by the end of the following working day.
  • Exchange size of wheelie bin: we will deliver within 10 working day
  • Flats recycling:
    • general information: we will contact you within 5 working days
    • missed collections or full bins: we will pick up missed collections on the same day if reported by 1pm if reported after this they will be collected the next working day
  • Garden waste containers: we will deliver within 10 working days
  • Litter bins on highway:
    • not emptied: these will be emptied the following day
    • repair, replace, remove, or additional: will be inspected and dealt within 8 working days
  • Medical or clinical waste:
    • deliver sacks: we will deliver within 10 working days
    • cancel collection: we will cancel within 2 working days
    • missed collection: if you report a missed collection we will collect within 3 working days
    • start collection:
      • the council's portal needs to be used to request clinical waste collections
      • we will start collecting the clinical sacks within 2weeks and collections will take place weekly.
      • we will collect the sharps box within 14 working days, collection days will be on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, depending on postcode
  • Missed collections:
    • food waste or green box: we will pick up missed collections on the same day if reported by 1pm if reported after this they will be collected the next working day
    • garden waste: we will pick up missed collections on the same day if reported by 1pm if reported after this they will be collected the next working day
    • special collection: if collection is missed we will rebook (free of charge) for the next available date
  • New or replacement:
    • food or green box: we will deliver within 10 working days
    • wheelie bin: we will deliver within 10 working days
  • Recycling in schools, missed collection: we will pick up missed collections on the same day if reported by 1pm if reported after this they will be collected the next working day
  • Recycling spillage to be cleared: if you report before 4pm we will clear as follows:
    • emergency – 3 hours (glass only, need to be reported as broken glass)
    • standard – 1 working day

Street cleansing

We schedule roads to be cleansed at a minimum of once every fortnight. Certain streets are cleansed more frequently, for example we will cleanse town centers daily.

Street trading

  • Application for designated site: Please email streettrading@ealing.gov.uk to see which designated sites are currently available. If you are already a designated site trader and are renewing your licence, this may take 10 working days
  • Application for front of shop: on receipt of your application and correct documentation we will issue you with a licence within 4 to 6 weeks
  • Illegal street trading: we will visit the site within 5 working days. The offender will be required to apply for the appropriate street trading license
