Parenting support service
The parenting support service is for parents of young people who:
- use the Youth Offending Service (YOS)
- are in custody (a young offenders institute or a secure placement)
- are at risk of getting into trouble with the police
The YOS can help parents by:
- giving one-to-one support
- group work - this is also a chance to talk to other parents
- helping them get the support that they need - with things like problems with drugs or alcohol or getting help with housing. The YOS can talk to people working in other services on behalf of the parents
- running workshops and training sessions - this includes keeping your child safe on the Internet, gangs and adult education
The YOS can see parents at:
- home
- the Ealing Youth Offending Service
- the council's offices at Perceval House in Ealing
They can talk on the phone to parents. The YOS also go to Ealing Magistrates Court every Tuesday - they are there to give help and advice to parents
Who uses the parenting service?
Some parents use the parenting service on a voluntary basis. This means they choose to do it.
For some parents, the court tells them that they must use the parenting service. This is because this is part of a court order.
