Walking is simple, free and one of the easiest ways to get active, lose weight and become healthier.
Brisk walking, can:
- boost stamina
- burn calories
- enhance heart health
- improve your mental and physical health
Even a brisk 10-minute walk daily offers significant health benefits and counts towards the 150 minutes of weekly exercise as recommended in the NHS physical activity guidelines for adults aged 19 to 64
Walk in the borough
There are many ways that you can stretch those legs within the borough:
- our parks and green spaces are fantastic places to walk for fitness and leisure and to add to your daily commute or school run
- phone map apps and Transport for London’s Journey Planner allow you to plan your walk as they show you footpaths and quieter side streets
- Go Jauntly is a free walking app with walking trails near you and have developed walks from the 5 Elizabeth Line stations
- our parks pages have historical walking guides and maps as well as health walks throughout the borough

- improve junctions for pedestrians
- fix drainage problems
- introduce tactile paving to guide visually impaired people
- remove obstructive pavement parking
