Street naming and numbering

Introduction

Ealing Council names and numbers streets and buildings in the borough under the London Building Acts of 1939.

Only the council can do this, not individuals or developers. We make sure addresses are shared with Royal Mail, emergency services, and utility companies. While Royal Mail assigns postcodes, the council assigns property numbers and street names for new buildings and changes. No other organization, including Land Registry, can do this.

Locally collected street names and addresses are sent to a national hub that updates the national address database to keep all physical addresses accurate.
