Electric Vehicle Charge Points – phase 10

This consultation will be open until 20 April 2024

Introduction

Petrol and diesel vehicles are the biggest avoidable cause of dirty air in our borough. Ealing Council has agreed air quality aims to reduce the use of these vehicles as part of our commitment to clean air and net zero carbon.

Meanwhile, the UK government will begin phasing out the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in 2035. In addition, the Mayor of London expanded the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in August 2023 to keep the most polluting vehicles off our roads.

Many residents have already responded by switching to electric vehicles - there are now over 8,100 in Ealing and ownership is growing quickly. To meet this demand, the council has committed to ensuring we have 2,000 electric vehicle charge points (EVCPs) across the borough by 2026. We also receive regular requests for more publicly available EVCPs and have consulted with residents to understand their issues and needs.

We propose to install new fast charge points with dedicated parking spaces in your local area to help residents with electric vehicles charge conveniently.
