Ealing social care encrytpted email - Egress

Ealing social care encrypted email - Egress

Ealing social care will be increasingly use encrypted email to ensure the safety and confidentiality of data held about our clients. This is known as Egress secure email. Staff have a responsibility to ensure that personal or confidential client information is suitably guarded from unauthorised viewing, interception or forwarding.

The Egress solution email encrypts and secures mail based on the sender and recipient. If the recipient forwards the email to anyone else, the third party will have to request access from the original sender to be able to decrypt the email.

Ealing internal staff

Staff will have Egress rolled out into their Microsoft outlook email application. Staff will need to sign up to the service once. For further information you can access the introduction to secure email for Ealing Council guide.

Partner organisations will need to sign up to read encrypted email from Ealing Council. It would be useful to warn them first before their first encrypted email that they will have to sign up to read confidential emails.

Internal support for Egress problems
Users are advised to contact (020) 8825 9000 if they have any problems.

Partner agencies

Partners will need to sign up to be able to decrypt and read the emails that they receive. Partners will receive an Egress introductory letter describing the new process.

This is a simple and free service which will enhance data security betweeen Ealing Council and its partners. Please refer to your ICT department for advice if you feel it necessary.
