Changes to council services over Christmas/New Year period

Rubbish and recycling collection days will change over the holiday period.  Check changes to collection days.  Collections will return to normal on Monday, 24 January 2022.

The council’s re-use and recycling centres will be open as usual from 8am-4pm, except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

The Ealing Together line (020 8825 7071) will be open over the Christmas and New Year period providing emergency food and financial support. Call 020 8825 7071 for information and advice

Ealing food bank will be open as usual, except for Christmas Day and New Year Day.  Greenford will be open on Bank Holiday Monday and Northolt on Bank Holiday Tuesday. The Southall food hub will be open Tuesdays and Fridays, 11am to 1pm.

Council services available 24/7 for emergencies only are:

  • Automated parking line: 020 8825 6565
  • Services for homeless people and their families or those threatened with home loss: 020 8825 8881/8888.
  • Children and adults’ social care: 020 8825 8000.
  • Tenants requiring emergency housing repairs: 020 8825 5682 or 0800 181744.

Most libraries will close at 4pm on Friday, 24 December and reopen at 9am on Tuesday, 4 January 2022.

The 24/7 online library service will be available to renew, manage your account and more. 

All council car parks and pay and display bays will offer free parking on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.  Visitor parking in resident bays within Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs) will also be free on those days.  Normal parking restrictions will apply on all other days.

Apart from Christmas Day, motorists are reminded that bus lanes, moving violation and parking restrictions on double yellow lines, loading bays and parking in other places where parking is prohibited remain in operation throughout the festive period.

The noise response team will be operating a service to deal with noise nuisance complaints. However, there will be no service on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Years Day and varying hours on other days.  Contact them on 020 8825 8111.

As always, teams will be on standby to grit roads across the borough if required.

The borough’s sports and leisure centres will be open at different hours over Christmas. 

Housing Benefit payments 

For Housing benefit customers who would normally be issued with payments on 30 December 2021, the payments will be issued on 21 December. Please allow a few days for the payments to reach your accounts. 

Following the Christmas and New Year period, payments will return to the normal schedule.
