Council service changes this Christmas 2020

Rubbish and recycling collection days will change over the holiday period.  Check changes to collection days. Collections will return to normal on Monday, 18 January 2021.

The council’s re-use and recycling centres will be open as usual from 8am-4pm, except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

The customer service centre at Perceval House, 14-16 Uxbridge Road, will remain closed apart from prearranged appointments.

The registrar service will be closed other than for prearranged appointments.

Services available 24/7 for emergencies only are:

  • Automated parking line: 020 8825 6565
  • Services for homeless people and their families or those threatened with home loss: 020 8825 8881/8888.
  • Children and adults’ social care: 020 8825 8000.
  • Tenants requiring emergency housing repairs: 020 8825 5682 or 0800 181744.

Libraries will be closed in line with the Tier 4 restrictions. 

The 24/7 online library service will be available to renew, manage your account and more. 

All council car parks and “pay and display” bays will offer free parking on Christmas day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Visitor parking in resident bays within Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs) will also be free on these days. Normal parking restrictions will apply on all other days.

Apart from Christmas day, motorists are reminded that bus lanes, moving traffic violation and parking restrictions on double yellow lines, loading bays and parking in other places where parking is prohibited remain in operation throughout the festive period.

Please note that the parking services office will be closed from 5pm on 23 December 2020 to 9am on 4 January 2021.

The noise response team will be operating a service to deal with noise nuisance complaints. However, there will be no service on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Years Day and varying hours on other days.  Contact them on 020 8825 8111.

As always, teams will be on standby to grit roads across the borough if required.

Housing Benefit payments 

Housing benefit customers who would normally expect to receive their payments on either 24 or 25 December will have their benefits paid into their account one day early.
Those expecting a payment on 31 December will receive their payments earlier on 23 December.
Following the Christmas and New Year period, payments will return to the normal schedule.
