Ealing Town Hall was lit purple for two nights (Wednesday, 3 and Thursday, 4 June) in solidarity with Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) communities around the world remembering George Floyd.
Leader of Ealing Council, Councillor Julian Bell said: “The death of Mr Floyd is truly shocking and our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and the wider Black, Asian and minority ethnic community.
“Diversity is Ealing’s greatest asset and we proudly stand with those peacefully protesting against racism and injustice across the world.”
Mr Floyd died while being arrested by police outside a shop in Minneapolis on Monday 25 May. His death is being treated as murder and a criminal investigation is under way in the United States.
