Members of the public can now take advantage of a new call and collect service called ‘Food Shop’ from Brakes, the UK’s leading food service wholesaler.
The service is part of a new local authority initiative to support local people during the coronavirus crisis.
Customers can order online or over the phone, and orders typically consist of essential food and non-food items such as: UHT long-life milk, cereal, pasta, tinned produce, toilet roll, fruit, vegetables and bread that can be collected or delivered directly to the doorstep.
The service offers 900 products including bread, dairy, desserts, drinks, snacks, store cupboard items, fish and seafood, meat and poultry, frozen vegetables, ready meals and more.
Cllr Julian Bell, Leader of The Council said: “Food delivery across the borough at this time is vital in helping to stop the spread of coronavirus and putting people at risk. Brakes normally serve local food shops but have extended their service to include the call and collect service for local residents."
“We are letting residents know about this service to relieve the pressure on them by reducing the number of shopping trips that people need to make, which in turn support government advice to minimise social contact.”
The Brakes ‘Food Shop’ is situated at Premier Park Road, Park Royal. Customers simply browse the range of products available by visiting www.brake.co.uk/food-shop, make a note of the products they want, and the relevant codes, then place their order anytime between 9.00am and 4.00pm, Monday-Friday. Payment is taken by card over the phone and then once the order has been placed, users are given a unique order number and can collect their order next day (Monday-Friday) with a collection slot allocated anytime between 9.00am - 3.00pm.
There is no minimum order requirement, however each order will be limited to a maximum value of £1,000 and no more than 10 of any particular product can be ordered to ensure availability remains good for everyone.
In line with current government guidance, social distancing measures are in place upon collection.
To collect their order users will need their unique order reference number, debit card used to place the order and a car registration number.
