Information for residents: Wuhan novel coronavirus

Cases have been confirmed in the UK.  The UK risk has been upgraded to moderate, although the situation is evolving.

Symptoms of coronavirus develop within 14 days and can be very similar to influenza and include a cough, sore throat, runny nose, fever, difficulty breathing. If you develop these symptoms and have travelled to China, Thailand, Japan, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Macau, Iran or Northern Italy, or been in contact with someone who has, the medical advice is to stay indoors, avoid contact with others, avoid using public transport and taxis and call either 111 or your GP.

If you have any concerns or questions check out the NHS advice.  You can also check the latest government advice  or go to Public Health England’s FAQs on the virus.

As circumstances change this page will be updated.  The latest update took place on 25 February 2020.
