Councillor Bell continued: "The council is supporting the police wherever possible and residents are asked to avoid the area at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected, their families and their friends.”
Councillor Joanna Camadoo-Rothwell, cabinet member for community safety and inclusion said: “We are doing our utmost to support the police as they respond to this serious incident in our borough. Residents are asked to avoid the in the Elthorne Park Road and Boston Road area of Ealing and the public are urged to contact the police on the 101 number or crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org if they have any information.
“The police have also put in place a Section 60 Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, across Ealing and Hounslow boroughs until 4am tomorrow morning to prevent violence. This means that the police officers have the power to stop and search individuals for offensive weapons or dangerous instruments.”
