Ealing Council seeks development partner for heart of Southall

The project will be delivered in collaboration with London-based developers, Metropolitan and Suburban.

Called The Green, the 2.24 hectare (5.5 acre) site currently comprises of a surface car park, light industrial units and other non-residential properties. It is a 300m walk from Southall Station, which will be a stop on the new Elizabeth (Crossrail) Line.

Located within a GLA Housing Zone and designated regeneration location, the site sits opposite the Grade II listed Southall Manor House and it is anticipated that more than 500 residential units can be created on the site along with new public realm and commercial and community space.

A single developer (or consortium) is being sought who can respond positively to the council’s ambitious vision for a transformed space and proposals should include private as well as affordable housing. The council also require the re-provision of 90-100 car parking spaces for public use to support local shops and services.

The full project brief is available on the London Planning Portal www.londontenders.org using reference 1343. The deadline for submission is 12noon on Tuesday, 12 September 2017.

Councillor Julian Bell, leader of Ealing Council, said: “Ealing Council has a reputation for quality regeneration and we want to speak to partners who can support our vision for this exciting town centre development.

“Crossrail is going to transform our borough, connecting local people and businesses with jobs and opportunities right across London, and we are working hard to capitalise on it. This transformation of this underused, but significant town centre site is part an important part of this work.”
