Food and medicine support
The last delivery of weekly food boxes will take place on 31 July. This date applies to those in receipt of food boxes from Ealing Council and those receiving Government food boxes. No more boxes will be delivered after this date. Access to Government funded free delivery of prescriptions will also stop.
Government advice is that from the 1 August, those previously shielded can go outside to buy food and should maintain social distancing measures.
For residents who registered with Government before 17 July for priority access to supermarket deliveries this will continue. You can continue to use NHS Volunteer Responders to deliver the food you buy, prescriptions and essential items to you if you need to. If the council arranged a charity to assist with your food shopping you will be notified before any changes.
Residents that are concerned about how they will source food after shielding is paused can call the council for advice on 020 8825 7170. We may be able to help with securing an online food delivery slot or putting you in touch with local volunteers who can collect the shopping you have paid for on your behalf.
Residents in financial crisis who cannot pay for food can also call 020 8825 7170. They will be able to put you in touch with the Local Welfare Assistance team who can provide support and advice on benefit entitlements, debt advice and jobs and skills. They can also arrange a referral to Ealing Foodbank if required.
