Changes to council services

Return to school advice

Schools closed from Friday, 20 March and partially reopened on Monday, 23 March for children of key workers and other eligible children. Ealing's Family Information Service (FIS) will be supporting parents identified as key workers with information on which schools and childcare provision remains open.

Free school meals

Low-income families whose children are eligible for free school meals can get vouchers, food or meals, even if they are not attending school due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Headteachers should decide which of the available options will be best for families in their area. Schools can provide food on site, arrange deliveries or purchase a voucher to be given to the family. More information on support for pupils eligible for school meals.

Getting free school meals is linked to benefits, so if you have recently started claiming benefits, your child may now qualify. The government has also temporarily extended the free school meal eligibility to include children of groups who have no recourse to public funds (NRPF).
