In response to the Government’s social distancing measures and to support disabled and vulnerable Taxicard scheme members, a more flexible use of the scheme has been announced by London Councils.
London Councils have approved members to use the subsidy to allow:
- Taxi drivers to collect essential items for them
- Family, friends or carers to use a Taxi or private hire vehicle to do essential shopping or collect medication on behalf of a member.
For those that are self-isolating and social distancing, this will allow discretionary flexibility in use of trips and gives members another means by which to receive essential groceries and medicines.
The scheme is managed by London Councils and is jointly funded by Ealing Council and Transport for London. For more information about the London Taxicard scheme and to apply, go to the London Councils website.
