Ealing's Borough-wide public spaces protection order

Ealing’s Borough-wide Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO)

In September 2019 Ealing introduced a borough-wide PSPO, aimed at enhancing public spaces across Ealing for all residents and businesses, as well as to visitors to the borough.  The order targets a range of behaviours (such as anti-social drinking, dog fouling and littering) across different spaces, which residents and visitors to the borough have told us were causing a detrimental impact to them.  Data was also analysed from across the Safer Ealing Partnership and over 1,400 Ealing residents took part in the formal consultation.

The order introduces specific prohibitions and requirements for key areas, including:

• The Whole Borough
• Town Centres
• Parks
• Ealing Council’s Housing Estates

The council and its partners continue to take an approach in responding to anti-social behaviour through education, engagement and enforcement.  The PSPO is enforced by police through dispersals, fixed penalty notices and ultimately prosecutions.
