Acton Park - Skate park proposal consultation

This consultation was live for six weeks between 4 August and 16 September 2017.

The consultation

As part of Ealing Council’s investment to improve facilities for young people within the borough we were seeking the views of residents and park users on a proposal to build a new skate park in Acton Park.

At the start of the six-week consultation period 1345 leaflets were sent out to residents living in the area directly bordering the park. To advertise the consultation posters were put up at key points around the park, a press release was issued and promotional messages were posted on the councils' social media pages.

What you said

In total 453 responses to the consultation were received. 285 of those responses were submitted through the online survey with 168 hardcopy responses also received though the post. The online survey was open to all users of the park while all the postal responses were from local residents directly bordering the park.

The consultation results showed that 75% of people who responded to the consultation supported the proposal to build a skate park with a higher proportion of the online responses supporting the proposals (84%) than the postal responses (61%). When asked what the most sutiable hours of operation would be for new skate park, 41% of respondents felt that the between 4pm and 9pm would be the most suitable time.

What happens next?

Based on the positive response to the consultation the project will now go forward to the planning application and detailed design stage.
