Privately-owned trees

Privately owned trees in the borough can be found not only in residential gardens but also retail sites, industrial parks, private sports clubs, rails and tube networks, highways managed by Transport for London, housing association land, educational sites and other non-council owned land.

Find out about trees that are legally protected, for example if located in a conservation area or covered by a tree preservation order (TPO), and how to apply to carry out works to a protected tree. Information is also provided on the requirements when submitting a planning application for a site that has trees located on or next to it.
