Members of Ealing libraries can access a number of databases from home. Click on the links below and then on the next page you will be asked to enter your library card number. Universal Skills 

Universal skills is a guide to help with Universal JobMatch and Universal Credit. It includes information on job hunting from CVs/covering letters to interviews and starting work. There is also help with improving basic IT skills.

Ancestry

Access to Research

The Access to Research service is a new initiative to give free, walk-in access to a wide range of academic articles and research in public libraries across the UK. Available from library PCs only.

Credo Reference

Search over 470 titles and topic pages. Use Credo Reference to search encyclopedias, dictionaries, biographies, quotations, create concept maps and do image searches. You will be asked to select your Ealing library by name, e.g. Ealing Central Library, Perivale Library.

European Newsstream

Search and  access information from UK national and regional newspapers, and also European newspapers. Each issue of each newspaper is indexed thoroughly to enable you to find top news stories and also information contained in the various sections of the papers.

Relevant and updated daily, Law & Rights is a complete legal resource for anyone with a question about the rights and responsibilities associated with living, working or engaging in life in Britain.

Encyclopædia Britannica (age group 14 and over)

Encyclopædia Britannica Online gives access to the equivalent of a full-size multi-volume encyclopedia. There is also a world atlas and a dictionary and thesaurus of American English. You will be asked for your library card number.

Britannica Student (age group 10 to 14)

The student edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica (for ages 12-18). You will be asked for your library card number.

Britannica Junior (age group 5 to 10)

The children’s edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica (for ages 5-11). You will be asked for your library card number.

John Johnson Collection

This collection provides access to thousands of items selected from the John Johnson Collection of Printed Ephemera, offering unique insights into the changing nature of everyday life in Britain in the eighteenth, nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Categories include Nineteenth-Century Entertainment, the Booktrade, Popular Prints, Crimes, Murders and Executions, and Advertising. You will be asked for your library card number, and to select Ealing Council from the drop down list.

Issues Online

Examines a range of contemporary social and ethical issues. Provides access to hundreds of articles through a fully searchable online database. Ideal for key stage 3 students. You will be asked for your library card number.
