Electric vehicles and charging points

Ealing Council is committed to tackling climate change and improving local air quality and is supporting the take up of electric vehicles (EVs). The council has a manifesto commitment to support the delivery of 2000 charging points by 2026. We are working to expand the boroughwide network, so that all residents have an EVCP within a ten-minute walk.

Benefits of electric vehicles

There are public charging points across the UK. They are 'pay as you go', so you just pay for what you use. Find a charging point near you on Zap Map

On-street EV charge points

We are committed to supporting the delivery of 2000 charging points by 2026.

There are three operators providing on-street services in the borough:

  • Source London: Standalone bookable EVCPs, fast charge speeds.
For more information, feedback or to report a fault, contact Source London.
  • Ubitricity/Siemens: Lamp post EVCPs, standard charge speed.
For more information, feedback or to report a fault contact Ubitricity.
  • Believ (formerly Liberty Charge): Standalone bookable EVCPs, fast charge speeds.
For more information, feedback or to report a fault contact Liberty Charge.

There is a very high demand for more EVCPs. You can suggest a location where you think an electric vehicle charging point is needed. It is not possible to install them in every suggested location, due to physical and electrical safety reasons.

Installing your own EVCP

You are not allowed to run a cable across the public pavement, due to health and safety risks.

EV charge point grants

The government offers grants to residents and businesses to install charge points on their own property (including driveways and garages).
