Site location plans

All planning applications must be accompanied by a location plan which clearly identifies the site. It must show the property concerned with at least two adjoining properties and bordering roads. If a location plan is not included, the application may not be accepted.

An ordnance survey map is satisfactory for this purpose, but you may also use alternatives.  The plan should:

  • not be a Land Registry document
  • not be used for multiple applications
  • not be a photocopy or a screen grab image
  • not be copied from existing OS mapping if using hand drawn maps

The map needs to show the correct licence number if you wish to print or copy maps for applications.

We recommend that you use 1:1250 for most applications. Aerial photographs are also available to purchase at each of these scales for the same location.
