About conservation areas

Article 4 Directions

The council has made Article 4 Directions to protect specific elements in the following conservation areas. The effect of the direction (in addition to standard conservation area controls) is that planning permission is also required for the following development. This does not mean that the council will necessarily refuse permission, but enables it to exercise greater control in protecting the character and appearance of the conservation areas.
