Apply for a permanent direction sign

Local direction signs help visitors find attractions and facilities.

If you are a business or organisation that serves local residents, and also attracts visitors from outside of the borough, then you may qualify for up to three permanent direction signs that lead to your site.

Before you start

Check your organisation’s eligibility for permanent directional signs by reading the permanent signing policy document.

There is a one-off application fee of £50 that is non-refundable.

You will need

  • Organisation name, address and contact information
  • Up to three possible locations that you would like the sign to be placed
  • Debit or credit card to pay £50.

What happens next

A highway officer will assess the application against our policy document.

We will email you to tell you if your organisation qualifies for permanent directional signage.

If you qualify, we will design the signing scheme for you. Before the design work starts, we will ask you to pay around £500. We will then send you a letter with an estimate of the cost to put the signs up.

We will supply and install signs that meet our standards. Before we start work, we will ask you to pay for the signs.

This form should take approximately six minutes to complete.
