Universal credit
Universal credit is a new type of financial support for people of working age who are looking for work or on a low income. It’s being introduced gradually across the country and it is expected that it will be introduced into all areas by January 2019.
You don’t need to do anything if you’re already claiming any benefits - you’ll be told when universal credit will affect you. It may replace some of the benefits and tax credits you are getting now.
