Fire safety in Ealing’s council housing

Our responsibilities

We work closely with the London Fire Brigade to keep your fire protection arrangements in good working order. These include dry risers, which are the system of water pipes that allow the emergency services to deliver water to the upper floors of a block of flats to put a fire out. Please do not obstruct dry risers by storing personal items in communal areas.

We regularly check communal fire doors to make sure they meet the standard of protection. Fire doors are self-closing and located in communal corridors and staircases in buildings. Please never wedge open fire doors or make any changes or adaptations to them. If you see a fire door in need of repair, please let us know and we will fix it as a priority.

We are doing all we can to minimise any fire risk in your home, so please help us by following the advice. If you spot any damage or concerns with the fire protection in your building, report it to the building safety team
