Political and management structures

Ealing has 70 councillors, of which 59 are Labour, 6 Liberal Democrat and 5 Conservative.

Cabinet

Ealing operates a cabinet model of administration. A leader of the council and portfolio holders making up the  cabinet. This is supported by scrutiny committees (reviewing decisions, performance and services), regulatory committees (eg town planning and other panels) and advisory committees as required.

Ward forums

The council created 23 ward forums in 2008 (replacing the old area committees).  Each forum looks after a small community of streets, or 'ward'.  These forums give residents more opportunities to get involved in influencing what happens on their own doorsteps.  Led by ward councillors, the forums discuss local concerns such as crime and community safety, traffic, parks and street lighting.
