West Ealing station - Crossrail complementary measures consultation

The consultation

This consultation was looking for your views on proposed highway and public realm improvements in Manor Road and Argyle Road, West Ealing, associated with the delivery of a new West Ealing Crossrail Station.

The public consultation documents for the scheme were posted out to residents on 5 February 2018 and the consultation documents were also made available online to all interested parties. The consultation document included descriptions and plans for the proposals. Residents were encouraged to respond to the consultation online but could request a paper version if required.

What you said

A total of 984 questionnaires were posted to local residents and in total 93 responses were received (92 of those via the online survey with one by post). The overall response rate of the consultation was 9.5%. Of those responding, the majority were residents with only two responses from businesses.

There was a positive response to the scheme with 80% of respondents in favour of the proposals with only 16% opposed. The main elements of the scheme aimed at facilitating pedestrian movement and improving road safety received strong support with over 70% of respondents in favour. There was particularly strong support for the proposal to provide improved cycle parking facilities at the station with 92% respondents in favour.

What happens next? 

Given the positive response to the proposals, it is recommended that the scheme proceed to detailed design and implementation. Construction will be phased to accommodate Network Rail works on the new station.
