Residents survey

Ealing residents survey 2023

Overview

The next Ealing Residents Survey will be carried out from 9 November until 14 December 2023. The survey will be an important way to gather residents' feedback on their local area, concerns, and priorities, as well as how they use and view local services.

The council has commissioned an independent research agency, Lake Market Research, to carry out the survey. A total of 1,250 residents will be interviewed face to face at their doorstep.

Questions in the survey will consist of the following topics:

  • satisfaction with the local area and the council
  • attitudes towards the council and its services
  • active travel and physical activity
  • volunteering and engagement
  • perceptions of safety and anti-social behaviour
  • communications from the council
  • wellbeing and resilience, including cost of living
  • demographic questions such as age, gender, ethnicity, and disability

Method

Interviewers from Lake Research will select households in all parts of the borough on a random basis using a specific sampling methodology. Interviews, lasting about 20-25 minutes on an average, will be carried out on residents’ doorsteps using tablet-style data entry devices.

All interviewers will carry their official Lake Market Research identification cards, and also have an authority letter from the council in case requested by a resident. Authenticity of the survey can also be checked by the calling the council on 020 8825 5000. Residents will not be offered any payment incentive to take part in the survey.

To check that Lake Market Research is a trusted market research agency, the Market Research Society can be contacted on 0800 975 9596.

Residents’ views will remain strictly confidential to Lake Market Research, and no names or other identifying details will be passed to the council (or any other organisation), without their prior explicit consent.
