Background
The 2011 Census was taken on 27 March 2011. Most of the Census results are now available.
The census provides accurate information on population and local characteristics that the government as well as local authorities need to develop policies, and plan and run public services such as health and education. The data is also widely used by academics, businesses, voluntary organisations and the public.

30 January 2013: Same topics as release 2.1 but with more details at ward and output area levels, plus main language of residents, proficiency in English, and number of students
Release 3.1, 3.2a & 3.2b - briefing
16 May 2013 - 12 July 2013: Release 3.1, 3.2a and 3.2b of the census information with key statistics and quick statistics information as well as the census based mid year estimates (MYE) for 2012.
