Contractors wishing to join our approved list and get the chance to compete for our contracts should follow this process:

  1. Join Constructionline, the BIS-approved national register of pre-qualified contractors to the construction industry. By completing Constructionline’s pre-qualification process, contractors reduce the need to fill in pre-qualification forms for every tender and become visible to over 2,500 buyers.
  2. Contractors and consultants need to demonstrate health and safety standards that conform to the CDM 2007 Approved Code of Practice (ACoP).  This is achieved by securing certification through one of the 26 assessment organisations who are members of SSIP. SSIP was established in 2009 to ensure that common benchmark standards apply to health and safety assessments and reduce the duplication/ cost in meeting the standard.  See for further details of member schemes.
  3. Make sure that you have got insurance cover that meets our minimum requirements. We ask for employer’s liability insurance of at least £10 million and public liability insurance of at least £5 million. Consultants also need professional indemnity insurance of at least £2m.
