Food Hygiene Rating Scheme

Appeal the rating

If you think the rating is wrong or unfair you can appeal against it.

Firstly, you should speak to the food safety officer who did your inspection. This will help you understand how they worked out your food hygiene rating. You may be able to resolve the matter without having to appeal.

If you still think the rating is wrong or unfair, you can lodge an appeal. This is done by completing the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme appeal form and sending it to: foodsafety@ealing.gov.uk.

You must make your appeal within 21 calendar days (including weekends and public holidays) of us telling you your food hygiene rating.

If you make an appeal, your rating will show as ‘awaiting publication’ on the Food Standards Agency website. After you submit your appeal, we will tell you about the result within 21 days.
