Even a small fire in a home can lead to substantial damage which can cause expensive and lengthy repair work.
Smoke alarms
- A smoke alarm is the easiest way to alert everyone within a home if there is a fire. They are a cheap option which can easily be fitted. London Fire Brigade (LFB) recommend one alarm to be fitted on a ceiling of every floor.
- The LFB recommend testing the fire alarm once a week to make sure it is working. Just press the button on and off after the alarm sounds.
- If you live in private or rented accommodation your landlord is legally required to provide a smoke alarm within the property.
