Background
There is an acute affordable housing crisis in Ealing borough, with a shortage of homes that are available at rents that local people on moderate incomes can afford. With around 12,000 households waiting for a council home, delivering more genuinely affordable homes for Ealing to be let by the council or housing associations, is a key priority for the council. The site
The site, which is on Uxbridge Road in west Ealing, was formerly the Dean Gardens and Maitland Yard car parks. It is close to the extensive facilities and shops of Ealing Broadway.
Our contractor, Henry Construction, is building 53 new homes at the site, along with a commercial unit and public car park which will re-provide 32 parking spaces, including four disabled bays. The homes will be split across three blocks of four, six and eight storeys. 21 of the homes will be let at London Affordable Rent, which is a type of social rent. A further 10 will be available as shared ownership and the remaining 22 will be sold on the open market. The further breakdown is as follows:
