Ealing Safeguarding Children Board (ESCB)
Ealing Safeguarding Children Board (ESCB), formerly the Ealing Area Child Protection Committee, came into effect on 1 April 2006. Made up of multi-agency representatives, the core duty of the ESCB is to ensure that there are adequate arrangements in place across agencies to protect children from harm. They also have a duty to ensure that the welfare of children is promoted so that they are able to achieve the five Every Child Matters outcomes: stay safe, be healthy, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic well-being. It has a particular focus on the outcome ‘staying safe’.
Though the ESCB has the lead role in ensuring that children are protected and their welfare is promoted, the safeguarding of children is the responsibility of all those working with or coming into contact with children.
The ESCB is a mechanism for agreeing how relevant organisations will cooperate to safeguard and promote the welfare of children within the Ealing borough.
ESCB Business Plan
The ESCB Three Year Business Plan sets out the priorities of the board with regards to safeguarding children in Ealing over the next three years. The plan will be updated each year with an account of progress and details of priorities for the coming year.
ESCB Training ProgrammeThe ESCB provides a comprehensive multi-agency child protection training programme for professionals who work with the borough’s children and/or families.

Constitution (word)
The Constitution outlines the objectives and functions of the ESCB and provides a list of statutory membership and terms of reference for all the working groups of the ESCB.
